Laleh

If you haven't heard about Laleh* yet you should try to get to her next concert or at least listen to her music on her website. On stage she is amazing, hypnotizing everyone in the room.

*Laleh's full name is Laleh Pourkarim. She is originally Persian, born june 10, 1982. She came to Sweden when she was 1 year old. Her first album that was released in 2005, she personally produced and wrote, from which she won three awards at the Swedish Grammis.

Not too many new indie* bands are entering the music scene these days, but quite a few of them are absolutely worth checking out. I just came over the ones below by coincidence. You should definitely visit their Myspace sites and listen to their songs.

*Indie is a shortening for independent music. It primarily refers to rock musicians that are or were unsigned, or have signed to independent record labels, rather than major record labels. Indie artists have complete control of their music and careers, releasing albums on independent record labels (sometimes their own) and relying on touring, word-of-mouth etc.
